Forest School
We use our extensive grounds and woodlands to support and enhance children’s learning. We use our woodlands for “Forest Schools” learning. Five members of staff have been trained as Forest Schools Leaders. The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences.
Our children visit the woodlands on a regular basis and through play and exploration, have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. We have seen children grow in confidence and self-esteem and become self-motivated and independent through our use of the woodlands. It is also a very useful area for cross-curricular learning; inspiring art and poetry, being used for science and maths and truly inspiring imaginations for creative writing.
